Whenever some degree of uncertainty is removed stocks tend to get attention and move accordingly. This trade often is concomitant with another setup. The more uncertainty the more hesitation, lower bid (or ask) pressure. When uncertainty is removed one side of the spread will change.
Yesterday, PepGen Inc (NASDAQ:$PEPG) announced the data for FREEDOM2-DM1 cohort is due in November. This sets a narrow date range within the next quarterly reporting window. Typically, smart money will front-run these confirmation events and the stocks will trip consolidation (gold diamond) prior to the announcement. As was the case here. All you have to do is read press releases and ask yourself if some uncertainty is removed. This trade is most common around earnings. The smart money trade is buy before the confirmation.
Similarly, Replimune Group Inc (NASDAQ:$REPL) received an FDA decision on Tudriqev. What was confirmed in this accouncement was that Replimune will require the additional expense of a further trial.
“As a condition of accelerated approval, Replimune, Inc., is required to conduct post-approval trial(s) to verify and describe the clinical benefit of Tudriqev.”
Replimune has bounced numerous times out of the channel. Smart money understood full well the trial design was not going to pass FDA scrutiny hence the lack of consolidation.
On the opposite side, if a company fails to confirm the stock often (usually) will react as well. In unfavorable and annoying ways.
Adicet Bio (NASDAQ:$ACET) failed to release data the market was expecting and the stock fell after earnings. Degree of uncertainty drives price.
Binary Event. When a company has only one dart to throw.
In August 2025, Tenax Therapeutics (NASDAQ:$TENX) confirmed top-line data for the Phase 3 LEVEL Study was expected in the second half of 2026.
This is usually a much longer trade to unfold and is also typically is front-run by smart money and triggers consolidation. Binary events are marked with a Yield sign on my charts. The trade is to get in early. Wait for retail to show and and sell OTM Calls during price moves. Collect premiums to lower costs so that the event risk is trivial if you decide to take it.
